Aim of the awards

The Conference awards seek to reward outstanding contributions to sport and exercise sciences by CASES members. Awards are presented for research (free communication presentation and poster presentation) in student and non-student categories.

Student Free Communication Presentation Award

Best student free communication presentation award made by a student or graduate delegate at the Conference.
Winner: £300
Runner-up: £150
Highly commended: £50

Award Criteria

1. The applicant must be the presenting, and thus first named, author of the abstract.
2. The abstract must be the only one submitted by the applicant for that award.
3. The abstract must not be entered for consideration for any other Conference awards.
4. Awards will be given for excellence, reflected in the academic content, presentation and
defence quality of the free communication presentation.
5. A ‘Highly commended’ award will only be made where there are sufficient quality
presentations.
6. If any of the winners are a non-CASES member, they will be offered an annual membership,
the value of which will be deducted from the prize amount.
7. The Awards Panel's decision is final in all cases.
8. The closing date is the deadline for abstract submission.
9. These awards will not be made in the absence of submissions of sufficient merit.
10. The award panel may choose to shortlist presentations for this award based on the scientific merit of the abstracts.

Student 5 Slides in 5 Minutes Free Communication Presentation Award

Best student 5 Slides in 5 Minutes presentation award made by a student or graduate delegate at the Conference.

Winner: £300

1. Presenters must be registered for a PhD or have no more than three full year’s post-doctoral
experience.
2. The applicant must be the presenting, and thus first named, author of the abstract.
3. The abstract must be the only one submitted by the applicant for that award.
4. The abstract must not be entered for consideration for any other Conference awards.
5. The award will be given for excellence, reflected in the academic content, presentation and
defence quality of the free communication presentation.
6. A ‘Highly commended’ award will only be made where there are sufficient quality
presentations.

CASES’ Mission is to innovate, advance knowledge, promote best practice and advocate the
profession by building a collaborative and inclusive sport and exercise science community.
There will be three winners within this Free Communication Presentation Award by a professional delegate at the Conference - one for innovation, one for contribution to knowledge and one for best practice:
• Best Sport and Exercise Science Free Communication Innovation Award (£400)
• Best Sport and Exercise Science Free Communication Contribution to Knowledge Award
(£400)
• Best Sport and Exercise Science Free Communication Best Practice Award (£400)

Award Criteria

1. The applicant must be the presenting, and thus first named, author of the abstract.
