Public invited to share views on professionalism in Sport and Exercise Science
7th May 2026

The Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), in partnership with the University of Derby, is launching a campaign to improve public understanding of sport and exercise science professionals.
Sport and exercise science plays an important role in supporting health, physical activity, performance and wellbeing. However, many people are unsure how to recognise qualified practitioners or how to know whether the advice and services they receive are safe and based on evidence.
To help address this, CASES is asking members of the public to share their views. The organisation wants to understand:
- What people think sport and exercise science professionals do
- What people would look for when choosing a practitioner
- How CASES can better support public understanding of professionalism in this area
The findings will help shape a new public campaign that will provide clear information, education and practical resources. These resources will explain what to look for when engaging with sport and exercise science professionals and how to make informed choices.
As part of this work, CASES is running a broad market research project involving members of the general public, CASES members* and university staff and students**. The insights gathered will support the development of resources that help practitioners work confidently, give clear guidance to clients, and collaborate effectively with other professionals.
If you would like to share your views on professionalism in sport and exercise science, please complete our short survey (around 5–10 minutes):
General Public Trusted Professionals Survey
At the end of the survey, you can also sign up for the CASES non-member newsletter to receive updates and resources.
**University staff and students who are not CASES members should complete this survey instead:
Education Trusted Professionals Survey
* CASES Members: please check your email for the link to the Members Survey
Thank you for taking the time to help support our campaign!
